There is rain in the mountains but I don't think it is going to reach down to here today and we need it. I have been picking blueberries, tomatoes and squash the last couple of days and the rain sure would help things grow. My brother is coming tomorrow so I will be busy dusting and vacumning today. I will go and walk shortly as soon as it gets light and then get busy getting ready for my brothers visit. Oh yes ...and I can't forget I have to cut the grass LOL! Have a great day!
Nora
Good morning. Am checking out all my online stuff, paying bills, then have to go to the grocery store before I leave for Indy to work for the next two and a half days. Hope that everyone has sales, stays cool, and healthy and happy.
Hi Early Birds, Pam and Nora! And I thought I was up early today? Welcome to July.
Nora, Oh no -- that dreaded word - HOUSEWORK! Hee, hee. Well, I actually did a bit of that yesterday myself. When I moved here in January, I had my 'helpers' put an end table in the corner of the living room with the couch on one wall and the love seat on the other wall. Thought that seemed logical. The pole lamp that USED to be at the intersection of the two couches in the other house went at the end of the long couch, with a small lamp on the end table. For 6 months I've been squinting at my crochet work in the evenings and/or when working on dark yarn, my eyes getting tired much earlier than they used to, all the time thinking 'age' was really creeping up on me! Yesterday I moved the pole lamp to the corner and the end table to the other end. The DIFFERENCE in the amount of light shining on my work is like night and day - NOW I remember WHY I had the floor lamp there before. I can actually SEE what I'm working on now :-). Duh!
Have a good week in Indy, Pam, and enjoy your brother's visit, Nora. Happy July everyone.
Pat
Technically tomorrow at noon is the exact half way point of the year but I know what you mean about it flying by. (Oh and I only know about tomorrow because of some stuff I get from work, I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, lol).
Uh, I woke up more tired this morning than I was when I went to bed. I did manage to get a head cold :( Just 2 days to get through and then I'm off for 5 days - yipppppeeee!
This year has just flown by, I can hardly believe it's already July!
I'm jeallous, Nora, blueberries and tomatoes are my two utmost favorites!!!! It rained here some last week and I want to see if I can go blueberry picking one more time before they're all gone, but I will have to go in the early AM next time because last time I almost passed out - no kidding - I got scared, it was so hot. I also wanted to pick tomatoes, but I don't know my way around here. I don't do well with country driving, I'm much better in the city with street signs and lots of light. Out here is nothing but open roads and fields and I don't know where I am...
I HATE housework. Thankfully I have a small apartment so I don't have to fuss too much.
Does anyone have any special plans for 4th of July? You know what I miss about working - other than a paycheck and some intelligent human interaction - I miss looking forward to things like, lunch, going home after a day's work, the weekend....now every day is just the same and I don't have the money to do anything "special" to break up my days.
Oh, well...at least I have a dog!
Have a nice day everyone! Happy first day of July (get ready for Christmas!)
OK, I need to ask you something and it's not crochet related, but animal related (I know, I can't help myself) but did you know that the GEORGIA PUPPY CARAVAN is coming to Georgia on 8/19 - 8/23/09? I didn't either till I got this e-mail from a friend in California.
Apparently The M.O.M.S. Rescue is planning a major rescue effort of saving sheltered dogs AND CATS from Georgia animal shelters in order to spare them a horrible demise.
Although it is coming to Georgia, anyone can help and participate, just read this website and that will explain it:
Good morning, everyone! Canada Day here, though hubby's working--yay! finally started back yesterday for 2 weeks! He has Friday off instead of today.
I have to take some pictures to get a few more things listed, and one of these days (I've been procrastinating) I have a box of crochet magazines I plan on listing as destash.
Working on some items for little 4 1/2" fashion dolls (like Kelly and Tommy), and hope they turn out like I have pictured!
Happy Canada Day, Sally. I should celebrate too - my ancestors on both sides of the family originally came from Canada, settling in New York State eventually. Maternal grandfather was born in Toronto. Maternal grandmother's people were from Quebec.
