Hi Val...I did turn my clock back last night and woke up at the same time ....it must be that inner clock. I am sorry to hear about your craft fair flop. I can't imagine it was your table set up as your displays always look perfect...it had to be the people who were looking. I have found that sometimes...no matter what you have out ..it just isn't what they are looking for! Good Luck on the next one!
I talked with my husband and we are thinking that I will need to get a job next fall when my youngest goes to kindergarten. I really don't relish the thought right now and am not sure what kind of job I will get. I cannot start teaching again until I take two college classes to get my license back. I am not sure I am the right kind of person to be a substitute, but I may end up trying for that or for a teaching assistant since those jobs would allow me to be home when my kids are home. Sigh....
For now I guess I will keep plugging away at my shop and hope my husband's business really takes off so I don't have to worry so much about this.
A new chat thread - a new Month! Wow. Thanks for doing this, Nora.
Sorry your craft fair was a flop, Valerie. Mine for the Humane Society Oct. 28 was bad too.... I guess we can't win them all, but it is discouraging when you've put so much time into inventory and then the WORK of setting up and taking down (the hardest part of craft fairs, I think). Hope your next one is better.
My son in SC is in the process of moving to Kansas City. They left last Friday, got to Tennessee. Saturday they were in St. Louis with my daughter. Right now (Greg just called) they are on the last leg of their trip - 4 hours between St. Louis and Kansas City. Then the task of 'unloading' the truck. Been there, done that so many times - all the packing, loading, traveling in convoy (moving truck, car....with kids and pets) down the highways, arriving, unloading, unpacking.... always a chore. I spent last Thursday with them all day -- I cleaned the 'old' house while they loaded the truck -- then we went out to dinner together one last time. I will miss them so much!
Have a great Sunday everyone. Speaking of "Time Change" and Clocks, I just did a Clock shopping lens for a Holiday Gift Guide on Squidoo and featured a couple Etsy Shops from creative clock-makers http://www.squidoo.com/Clocks-Rock Would have included EtsyHookers, if anyone had done a "crocheted clock", hee, hee. (This lens is under my new Squidoo name "Wednesday Elf"). I may transfer the 'fiber arts' lens to my Wednesday Elf account - too confusing to have two and Mountainside Crochet was too limiting for the 'general topics' lenses I want to make.

Oy, it's November. I've spend the last month trying to get things cleaned up for my dh's birthday party that we had yesterday and now that it's over, I can basically sit back, relax and wait for baby to come. Not that I'm ready for her, but I didn't want her coming before today. And of course there is still the daily stuff of laundry, dishes, and school, but hey things should be a slower pace.
Well, it's finally getting a bit cooler, maybe winter's really coming? It's been so warm, I thought we're heading straight for spring again ;-)
I got invited to an arts and crafts festival up north. I'm looking forward to it, but would like it better if I could find someone to go with me. It's a long drive and it would be nice to have someone to talk to... Gizzy's normally my driving partner, but he can't go this time. There will be lots of people and I will be busy enough watching my stuff and figuring out how to go to the bathroom ;-)
Good luck with your festival. I hope it is successful for you. I know what you mean about trying to figure out watching stuff and going to the bathroom. That can be hard to work out, but then other times it seems easy.
I am under a pile of letter pillow orders. I am just about to the point that I will have to stop accepting orders for the holidays as I am backed up to Thanksgiving as far as orders go. I can't complain, since it will help pay for preschool this month.
Wow, how is it already November? I really need to start Christmas presents, I guess!
Man, and speaking about changing clocks, my atomic clock is ALWAYS confused in March and October. It spends like two weeks trying to set itself to the time it thinks it should be and it's never right, lol! Wasn't daylight savings changed in 2007? You'd think that wherever the clock gets its info from would be fixed by now, but no.
It seems once November hits, it's all downhill...time just runs away with you - tonight's my first crochet lesson that I'm giving. We didn't have enough people (again) to form a class in college, so they asked me to teach a couple of ladies who really wanted to learn crochet. The ladies called me yesterday from Michaels wanting to know what an eye-hook was ;-) We only have 3 one-hour sessions together, so I told them if they wanted to pick up that book "I can't believe I taught myself how to crochet" it would be helpful, because I know several people that learned to crochet with that book. Three hours isn't really a lot if you have no clue about crocheting. God only knows how much they're being charged through the college. I'm only getting $15 an hour for the both of them, but I'm glad to help, especially since they're coming out to see me. We're having at in the clubhouse of my apartment complex. I'm excited. I hope I do a good job for them, but whatever happens, I'm leaving them my card in case they get stuck and need help...also, since they have computers, they can just go on You-Tube and look up the video clips.
Have a nice day everybody!

good Luck tonight Doris. My experience was that once you could get them past the chain and first row back through things when easily. But getting the confident in that chain and first row was another story.
When I teach beginners I start with single crochet and give each student a sc swatch that I have made in advance. They attach their yarn to the swatch and learn the sc stitch. It is easier for them to get used to holding the hook and keeping tension because they have a larger swatch to hold onto. It is much easier than trying to teach them to work into a chain. Once they have learned the sc st, then I go back and teach them how to crochet into the chain. It works great for me, and even my students comment that it was better to learn that way.
